The Gas Station of the Future Just Opened

Bloomberg BusinessWeek -- Matt Horton wants to solve a problem that makes alternative-fuel vehicles unappealing to would-be buyers: lack of convenient places to refuel. Last month, the chief executive officer of Propel Fuels opened the country’s first station where drivers can pump gasoline, ethanol, and biodiesel, cyclists can get tune-ups, and commuters can find public transit schedules. Backed by more than $19 million in venture capital and nearly $12 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission, the 23-person Redwood City (Calif.) startup received yesterday an additional, $10.1 million grant from the commission to help build 100 stations around the state in the next four years.

With its alternative-fuel pumps at about two dozen other stations.....

CA needs the diversified energy source stations. They have been mostly the trailblazers for different and often improved things. Thankfully, some stuff did not make it out of CA though...

More taxpayer money as subsidies that should NOT be spent and will have to be repaid by taxpayers. If there is a need for different vehicle fuels or energy then there will be a demand by the driving public for them and present gas stations can provide that option as the demand increases. I see no mention of CNG as a fuel option. Also, I drive by a Walgreen’s that has an EV charging station, I have never seen an EV or Inbred being charged yet. At another major grocery and department store the parking stalls for charging EV's and Inbreds are used as parking spots by regular vehicles.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible!
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

I need a 10 million grant... I need it for a fueling station for electric cars. Plan on burning Bunk "C" as a fuel. First station next to Obama's house!

This idea is a long time arriving but I notice a lack of electric plug-ins for those little short distance cars that the electric car companies are building.

They will most likely have maybe two of each pump.... If two or three cars are in line ahead of you; it may take a hour to refuel... What do you do for that hour????????? Sit in the heat or cold..!!!

Gas station of the future? Only if the ethanol and biodiesel do not use cropland. Corn and soybeans are for eating... not for fuel.

'FUTURE'?
Does not include cng nor the probable Hydrogen!
No 'future' there which is why the government is putting millions into it.

Sounds like another pie-in-the-sky adventure with taxpayer money being used to fund these government grants. Another Obummer plan that will fail like all the other energy projects that have failed as of late.

anyone willing to bet the start up company will still be around in 5 years. probably more tax payer money down the drain. government is so easy a mark. if it such a great idea the venture capital should foot the whole bill.
