I would much rather spend my money on a vehicle made by a US company in the US by US workers. I will never send my money to Japan.

They did get the part where it is slightly better than the conventional Hyundai car which has a 'latest tech' engine BTW while this car doesn't--when they introduce their upcoming 2.5 'newest tech' engine, then the figures will be quite a bit better than the Hyundai, while still a cheaper package with slightly less mileage than a 'true hybrid'. GM calls it eAssist, VW calls their system BlueMotion etc. VW does offer BlueMotion as an option on their entire model range in Europe and elsewhere. Lots of different names, for what is usually a package of mild brake regeneration charging a battery, with low power electric motors to assist during acceleration, special tires, and stop/start function. Not a hybrid, and not the price of a hybrid, with better MPG than an equivalent conventional car. Note, the Malibu won't be equivalent to the Hyundai until the new 2.5 is introduced.

Good by conventional car standards, but the $26,660 Toyota Camry Hybrid gets 43 mpg city and 39 mpg highway, so game over there. Further complicating Chevy’s marketing position is the $21,570 Hyundai Sonata that delivers 24 mpg city, and 35 mpg highway without any sort of hybridization whatsoever." So plan on this being a staple in the rental car stable. Normal people like myself will be buying the Camry or Sonata.
