Directions: Are You Ready for the Most Tested Fuel in History?

Autocare Pro News -- One word could sum up the reaction felt by automakers and vehicle enthusiasts alike regarding the dismissal of a lawsuit that would have prohibited the sale of E15 fuel — “disappointing.”

In mid-August, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit dismissed a lawsuit that challenged the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) authority to grant a partial waiver for 15% ethanol (E15) content in gasoline for 2001 and newer model year cars and light trucks.

The court, in a 2-1 decision, found that the groups bringing the lawsuit — trade associations representing manufacturers of cars, boats and power equipment, as well as the petroleum/oil and food industries — lacked the standing to bring such a lawsuit.

I'm just glad I have a station three blocks from my house that sells ethanol free fuel. The fuel cost 2 to 4 cents more than all the other station in my area. Ethanol Free fuel means 20 to 30% higher miles per gallon in my vehicles. It is well worth the price difference. I can only imagine how much E85 would lower my mileage.

E10 and E15 may not harm your truck and car, but they do harm your small engines like lawn mowers and snowblowers. The main problem is the WATER that the ETHANOL draws out of the air that messes up the carberators in these engines.

I think the "nobody wants to take responsibility if E-15 messes up a car" will limit the influx of it to FFV vehicles.

We need to keep pushing against ethanol. With the corn shortage, I don't see how we can keep putting in our fuel.

Of course they lack standing, because of course the EPA is Our Lord and Master, how dare we, the people affected by their dictates; ever dare think that we have the God given RIGHT, guaranteed by the Constitution, to petition the government for redress of grievances. No, of course we have no standing even though it is guaranteed.

Oh Master EPA, and your wise Emperor who rules over you, be benevolent to us, for we are but poor polluters who have no right even to breathe a single breath without your permission. Forgive us that we ever thought to think that this was a Constitutional Republic, when in fact as the court showed, you are "the boss of us".

I drive a 1987 Supra Turbo. It don't like E anything. Just pure high octane fuel.
