Barclay Tower Becomes World's First Intelligent Energy Storage Powered High Rise

sacbee.com -- Today in New York City, Glenwood Management reveals Manhattan's first battery-based, intelligent energy storage system providing 225 kilowatts (kW) of power with 2 megawatt hours (MWh) of stored energy capacity to a New York City high rise. The Joule.Systemâ„¢ designed by Demand Energy Networks, Inc. is located at Glenwood's flagship property, Barclay Tower, a 58-story luxury residential high rise located at 10 Barclay Street near the new World Trade Center, New York.

Interesting. These kinds of buildings may be the future. In California, then Gov Schwarzenegger instituted that all new government buildings include solar power installation to generate power. Every bit helps.

If living in a high rise is your cup of tea, go for it. It appears the power management system may be more intelligent than the inhabitants of the apartment buildings.

This is very exciting research.

Think in terms of the trickle-down effect :

"The trickle-down effect is a marketing phenomenon that affects many consumer goods, including - but not limited to - new technology and fashion. Initially a product may be so expensive that only the wealthy can afford it. Over time, however, the price will fall until it is inexpensive enough for the general public to purchase."

Think about how the first computers cost hundreds of thousands of dollars ...
How many of you bought one of those?

How many of you own a computer now? ;0}

From the article;
