America's energy boom revives Ohio's steel industry

Marketplace -- Ohio's jobless rate is lower than the national average. Its manufacturing employment is trending up. What gives? Part of the story is booming domestic oil and gas drilling. Energy companies need steel pipe. So steel giants are investing an estimated billion dollars in mills in Youngstown, Lorain and Canton.

At the Timken steel company's Faircrest facility in Canton, vice president Tom Moline gazes proudly upon a big hole in the ground. "It will be the largest jumbo-bloomcaster in the world," he says.

Translation: "This machine is going to be a monster," Moline says. "It will be the tallest structure in Stark County when it's done. And I believe the depth of this pit is close to the average depth of Lake Erie."

All the more reason to turn Obama out of office. Every action taken by Obama has hurt the oil industry on public lands. Fortunately there is plenty of oil off of governmentowned lands.

i am glad for all the people getting jobs. i hope the local and state governments don't piss away any budget surpluses or at least reduce the tax rates. that way, even those not directly benefitting get some benefit.
