NYC aiming to help motorists find available on-street parking- and fast

GasBuddy Blog -- The New York City Department of Transportation recently announced that it wants to help motorists find on-street parking- without even having to drive around.

It seems a bit ironic- the pilot to help motorists find parking without having to drive around, but that's exactly what the city is aiming to do. Just what we need, drivers looking at apps on their phones while they are driving. Especially in NYC, where you don't need a car.

It would be better to have no parking period and force everyone to take public transportation.

Great, I thought you couldn't use cell phones while driving, no? These had better update in real-time. Even tiny delays would make them useless.

This just is not possible. All this will do is direct scores of drivers to the same empty spot. Only one will get it and the rest will all rush to the next reported empty spot. This group of parking spot searchers could drive around in this throng for months.

Government, anything to fill up the unused parking meters, however, this will save gas for the customer since he doesn't have to drive around looking for an available parking slot.

On one hand they try limit motor vehicle traffic into the City via tolls & other charges & restrictions & on the other they are "encouraging" it?? Politics!
