They aren't "liberals" per se. They are the Liberal Party. We have a Liberal Party in several provinces, as well as a federal Liberal Party. It is a name. Our main federal parties are Conservative Party of Canada, Liberal Party, and Bloq Quebecois, which, of course, is Quebec bases, and I don't believe should have allowed federal party status. In Quebec, the Parti Quebecois is the separatist party, and the Liberal Party is the federalist party. But being a Liberal doesn't always mean one is a liberal, just as being a Democrat doesn't always mean one is democratic. Liberal Party tends to govern in a relatively conservative manner. The Conservative Party governs in a relatively fiscal conservative manner, but has had a shift to focus on social conservatism. Does that make sense?
