I wonder how different your comments would have been if ot was GM that had done this? After all, they were both bailed out.

Way back in the crustacean period when I was a teenager, the big 3 auto makers would have the assembly line workers working double shifts to meet the dealers inventory needs, then shut down about 3 months before production started on the next year's models. I knew some workers that over-spent while the big bucks were rolling in, then would run out of money during the shutdown months. Haven't kept up, but if they still work double shifts and now are not shutting down, this is a great bonanza and a chance to reduce or eliminate debts. This not only keeps them from looking for 2nd jobs during the shutdown period, but those jobs can be filled by people that need them more.

Good. I know the GOP must be pissed. They want Detroit to be only a Tomb Stone. Ship all those jobs overseas. That's the Romney Way!

Don't forget that Chryler is owned by Fiat and they like greed like the rest. But even machines need yearly maint. to perform to specs. This move could jump up and bite them in the butt.
