Outrageous! If they are viable or potentially profitable, the market will provide the investments needed. They are buying corporate donations.

If hybrids and EV's were such a great idea, they would not need subsidies and America would flock to them. Socialist Obama has to go.

instead of messing with private industry, government should get out of the way (Unless of course they are sending me a stimulus check so I can spend 40 grand on a car and paying my fuel bills also :=)

Taxpayers get ripped again- just to satisfy the low self-esteem of the people who buy these pathetic things.

These EV's and hybrids are way too expensive and it will take you decades to recoupe the difference in the price (if at all).

The government loves to give out taxpayers money, especially in an election year. It makes them look good.

If you can afford an Escalade, you really are not worrying about the cost a gasoline so the "hybrid" badge is a statement and has nothing to do with saving money (or the environment).

No subsidies should be allowed for vehicles with pre-subsidy prices of more than $25,000.

If EV's and Inbreds cannot stand on their own with vehicle sales and price competition, EV's and Inbreds do not deserve any kind of subsidy or $135 million of taxpayer money either. Much more money wasted that the taxpayers will have to pay back. It does Not matter what Brand or Model it is, Inbreds and EV's are too high priced for me. With the high price of purchasing a new EV or Inbred, I will drive my current vehicle into the ground before buying anything new, used, EV, Inbred, diesel, hydrogen, alternative fuel, CNG, concept or anything else. Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Sounds to me like it might just equal out in the end. But getting that initial money to purchase would be tough for the middle wage earner.
