Exxon CEO’s Personal Use of Company Airplanes Jumps Sixfold

Bloomberg -- Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM)’s costs for Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rex Tillerson’s personal use of company-owned aircraft increased sixfold in 2011, according to a U.S. regulatory filing.

Tillerson’s personal use of company planes cost $197,323 last year, compared with $29,409 in 2010, Irving, Texas-based Exxon said today in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The expense was included in executive compensation disclosures that showed Tillerson’s total compensation rose 17 percent to $34.9 million in 2011, including stock awards and deferred compensation.

"Exxon rose 16 percent in New York last year as civil conflicts in North Africa and the Middle East helped push Brent crude prices to a full-year average above $110 a barrel. Profit for 2011 jumped 35 percent to $41.1 billion."

That's amazing end results!

The next Presidential inauguration day the Washington DC area airports will be full of company-owned aircraft making pleasure trips irregardless of who is elected and each one has the same personal travel reporting requirements.

The pig shots always use the corporation as their piggy bank and their buddies on the board rubber stamp the abuse. The pig shots always gyp the stockholder - and anyone else they can.

I find no problem with a successful CEO using the perks of his position. To succumb to Obama's class warfare is too get on that slippery slope that ends up destroying America's exceptionalism and entrepreneurial spirit.

Exxon CEO's can go anywhere they want and as much as they want with their company airplanes, they have the resources and money to do what they want Sixfold or More. It's much better than going through the airports with the TSA Nazi's and the local police searching your luggage and personal body areas without authorization.
Barry and his families personal use of the country's military planes costs many times over the cost of Exxon's company planes.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible!
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

last thought: Remember some MORON or Group of MORONS is Actually Paying this guy that much. Got Stock? You're one of 'em. Of course I bet he is a major stock holder by now too. Could be a flaw me thinks.

Sounds like the guy would make a good Congressman - "I think we deserve a 20% raise; Hey, let's all vote it in!!!"

This is a common perk for executives in many huge corporations. As long as it's declared and he's paying taxes, I don't see that it's any different from any other company.

Man makes over $30 million a year and needs free use of the corporate jet
What he cannot afford, air fare or to reimburse the company
Hell I am sure if I made 1/5 of what he makes I could afford to charter a plane

$197,323 a year? That's almost as much as Air Force costs for ONE HOUR. $179,600.

I don't know that I would say that his use of the plane went up sixfold. Operating costs of air travel has risen, the cost went up sixfold. He most likely did ust the plane more, but probably not sixfold.
