Despite cost, ethanol-free gas gains a following

GasBuddy Blog -- Candy Burnett is an extreme commuter; (90 minutes each way from her home in Lynchburg, VA to her job in Rocky Mount) so her gas mileage is critical to her.

And for the past two or three years, she's been filling up at stations that sell pure, ethanol-free gas, according to the Lynchburg News and Advance.

"It's good for the car; it gets better mileage," she said. She even said that when she takes her car in for regular maintenance she's told that her engine looks cleaner.

In her area some retailers sell both E-10, the regular gas that contains up to 10% ethanol, and, ethanol-free fuel. One retailer who just started selling 90-octane ethanol-free gas only two weeks ago says he has growing customer demand for...

Pennsylvanian's have NO CHOICE - that's spelled NO CHOICE!

There is NO ETHANOL FREE GAS in Mountville, PA nor in Lancaster!

Many stories of engine failure due to ethanol caused corrosion!

Follow the money trail to the end, who is getting paid off?

People should use common sense. Commuting long distances isn't practical economically and is dangerous. I could never commute that length of time, every day even if I was compensated for it.

Glad her engine looks cleaner. Looks cleaner and emissions are two different things though. Hope her emissions are cleaner too; but, I doubt it. High emissions affect a lot more than just the driver.

Good to know that fuel is available for other applications though. Boats, jet skies, lawn mowers, etc. possibly still need the real gasoline. The carb on my 10 year old tiller is having problems. Replaced the bowl gasket and primer bulb. Maybe more internals are damaged. Would that be Ethanol or AGE ?

Despite cost, Ethanol-free gas gains a following? :-(
I prefer 100% gasoline for my car and I am forced to use 10% ethanol gasoline. No ethanol needed and No fuel from food either! The article picture is a classic, it says it all with Bubba and the fuel storage containers!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

I wish we had the option here. At the least everyone should be able to choose between non-ethanol and fuels with it mixed in. Allowing people to make decisions like that would kill the ethanol industry quickly.

Since there is no subsidizing ethanol junk, do not see why the 'pure' gasoline would be in the category of 'despite cost'! Oh, wait, bp is involved! Do not know if anyone noticed, but e-15 costs the same as 'regular' ethanol contaminated gasoline.

Would love to buy ethanol free gas, but it isn't available in this area. Governmental control has gone too far in respect to this area.

If you lose gas mileage with ethanol then don't use it. I don't put it in my truck because I lose 15% mileage. If you are dumb enough to get worse mileage and pay the same price as regular gas then do it.

As a long time contributor to GasBuddy, I have been waiting for thr separate tracking of the availability and pricing for “E0” ethanol – free gas in my area. The GasBuddy website and network is the perfect tool to accomplish this. GasBuddy.com operators, please consider this!
