Rising Gas Prices Alter Vacation Plans

ConsumerAffairs -- Despite the rise in gasoline prices, consumer confidence remains higher than it has been in several months.

But confidence is one thing, economic reality is another. And when it comes to making vacation plans, consumers are scaling it back, according to the U.S. Travel Association. And there's one main reason for it.

That's all right, as it's what the people voted for when they voted for Obama in the first place. He said back when he was running for office the first time that you'd all be paying more for energy and electricity if he were elected and his agenda was passed, and it's not even fully passed, so just imagine what the future beholds. If you think you have it bad now, just wait.

Imagine what these energy costs are going to do to the small little tourist place, maybe just off the beaten track. These poor souls will lose all, what is good; imagine real ghost towns/resorts etc. Sad what is becoming of N. America.
A storm is brewing and the natives are becoming restless; heaven help society, as these fools on wall st/big oil, and their dithering political buffoons shake Pandora's box. Don't they realize once they shake this box open, their won't be any, putting the genie back in the bottle.
Stupid greed; we will all lose including them; only a matter of time.

Actually I have two planned vacations for 2012. Both going by airline which is cheaper than driving. Advantage of staying longer too. Best airline tickets are purchased on Tuesday and Wednesday late evening to early morning hours just after midnight. Travel often and get flier miles to pay for some of your trips. It's the way to go...FLY DELTA ! !

I'm going to move close to where I like to vacation so the cost of transportation will be minimized. It helps if you're retired!

agreed...

but, also Congress should pass a law: "Put America First" Act... so all the oil extracted and refined in the US shall cover US's needs first and then sell the rest...

Our average price for regular is $3.737 and our lowest is between $3.619 and $3.639 per gallon. I have cut my driving by more than 50% due to these high gasoline prices.

We need to develop and use, non-ethanol, alternatives to oil based fuel like abundant, clean burning U.S. natural gas in the form of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). It could easily replace diesel in all heavy duty highway trucks, local busses and construction equipment. This would reduce the price of diesel fuel and free it up for use in new, high efficiency cars and light trucks. This would reduce the price of gasoline for use in new, high mileage cars and for the rest of us.

There needs to be a law to prohibit the sale of all American refined products overseas, except to Canada if the Keystone XL pipeline is built.

If you budget available fossil fuels, why whine about President Obama treating you like adults and living within that budget.
It begins at home.

Thanks to the rising gas prices, only the rich can go on vacation now. Just the way our president wants it to be.
