I only took 1 online class and it left a bad taste in my mouth. It was way more intense than any classroom course I have taken and a lot more work. I had to write a paper every week, reading of chapters, homework, and post online with the other students. It was through Kaplan University.

In my 18 months of experience obtaining a Master's degree online, I find that some schools use an accelerated schedule which requires a lot of research in minimal time. Really gets the mental juices flowing, and if you are having problems, you may be assigned to a study group or team to conduct joint research. Great experience as you will find people of vastly different ages and backgrounds to gain knowledge from.

Some online classes do not compare to physically being in a classroom. I am more of a hands-on learner and hope to earn some credits at a local university for my online degree.

I take most of my course now in online format. Some are easier than others, but it allows me time to actually work to keep food on the table and a roof over my head while trying to better myself.

My couple of online classes were great. One had to turn in homework and show up for a final. One final exam was online, but it was so hard, even if you COULD use the notes, etc. Long essays!

I've taught online classes. It's not easier than in person, but does open opportunities for people to earn a degree while still holding a full time job. Unfortunately, some instructors are not good in either setting. My son took an online class last year and I don't think the instructor ever answered a single phone call or email. My students will tell you the courses were challenging, but also that I took as much time as needed to help them get the job done.

Is it really possible to get a degree through an online university?

I received my Accounting and Business Administration degrees online. They are much harder than the traditional classroom setting. You get less help and are expected to give that extra. Doing a class or to with other college students on campus to bounce things off of, is totall different than getting your whole degree online, try it and you will see.

Online classes I love because i'm a night-owl and you can do the work whenever. Most of all my business classes is in the morning and I hate it so online is a great thing.
Who's really going to class 7AM on a Monday after partying the whole weekend? Not me!!!

I love my online classes, but some of them are getting harder now by assigning discussion boards and special browsers for tests.

I went to college the first time at age 55. I had one on-line class the first semester and I realized it's not the best for me. I had a hard time with time management, and staying focused. Also, I am a people person and really enjoyed the "human" contact in my regular classes. I do have a niece who is taking on-line classes and she loves it! And she has a 1 year old at home with her. I am very proud of her dedication!

I like face to face classes the best. Online classes are okay if all your work is done independantly. Bt one professors start assigning group projects I would rather talk to group members face to face. Plus you can ak professors questions if you need help in a face to face class.

Online classes seem easier, but they are just as hard, except you can pace yourself or work ahead if you want. I personally love online classes, and spend a whole year taking online courses it was great because I took classes in the US while I was actually in Korea.

I actually prefer hybrid courses over classes that are completely online. I like to interact with people one-on-one, so I don't like doing "class participation" in those discussion forums. I enjoy my hybrid Financial Accounting class, where the lectures are in-class, but the homework is done on MyAccountingLab. The learning resources they have are really helpful, and they really do help me prepare for exams (which are taken in-class). I prefer to take exams in-class because I can ask the professor for help (and usually they give really good hints if not the answer itself)!

The online classes always seemed easier. They took less time and you didn't have to go anywhere. But I still didn't like them as much.

I took half of my pre-reqs online and some were so easy it was embarrasing and some of them were nightmarish. It depends on the subject the teacher and your own personal ambition. Whether you want to learn something and work on the topics of study or just breeze through the classes and take the tests with your book open looking up the answers as you go.

Online courses can be a hit or miss, depending on the subject matter. A community college near me offers online courses, but they're NOT 100% online. You physically have to be present, in the classroom, with two forms of ID for the final exam, a date which is published on the college's website, prior to signing up. 49% of your grade is earned through assignments, discussion post replies/questions and 51% of the grade comes from the final exam itself.

I enjoyed the online classes. Yes, its true the interactivity is not there, but it was nice to be able to finish my degree when I deployed! These classes cater more towards the working individual than the rest of the student body.

In my experience, online courses require more active work than their on-campus equivalents. Instructors say this is to make up for time otherwise spent listening to lectures.

It just depends on your instructor, I have heard of some real crappy ones that don't give any feedback on assignments. Otherwise online classes are definitely the way to go.

I agree! Online class are great for community and university. I just don't like other one that end with dot com. Some of my friend said they are legal scam. These people just like a blood sucker. It drank you bank account.

I had taken some seminary classes online - and I don't agree that these were easy classes! Realistically, though the Seminary did a great job of providing many means for me to learn, I still felt I was on my own, teaching myself. I also was living overseas during this time...so this made it very tricky! I agree that attending classes in person were more my style. I felt proud of myself for accomplishing what I did online!

My live online classes were easy. I played on the internet while the professor rambled. I still question how much I really learned. I still feel not all employers or on board this online degrees. It can hurt your chances for a job if employers do not believe online classes are legit.

I teach online classes and I find that the online class is more difficult for most students than the face-to-face class. The online class is also much more difficult to teach. It takes a lot more of my time. My online classes do have quizzes as some here have mentioned but they also involve graded discussion for each lesson/chapter.

I graduated about a year ago. Only 21 years after graduating high school. Because of my schedule I was forced to attend on-line about 2/3 of the time. The on-line courses I took were definitely not easier then traditional, in fact I found them more difficult. On-line classes required my initiative and a lot more time in the books.
