i havee a 2005 Subaru forester XT premium. we havee about 17000 miles on her already. The car on occasion, puffs a blue cloud on startup. from my experience with mostly fox body ford Mustangs, blue smoke is oil, right?? We took it to the dealer and they hooked it up to the computer and they say there is nothing wrong with it. It is normal for a car to puff some smoke at cold start-up. I'll tell you what i didn't spend 30k to have a car that burns oil..... any advice or feedback on this would be helpful..

I have a outback that did the same thing and was told the pcv valve was bad, replaced and has not smoked when starting in 3-4 years now

Take the car back to the dealer it should not blow no smoke, they just don't want to do it, it is very costly to them, take it to another Subaru dealer they probably do something about it just to say they are better and to keep you as a customer, the dealer you are with might not care they got their money that all they care about.

Think about it, I tried it before and it worked.

Is that the turbo model? I believe so, So it sounds like it could be seals in the turbo are leaking a little. Could just need a PCV valve though. When my SVX's PCV clogs it spits oil into my intake and makes my dipstick pop out. Just some suggestions. Good Luck.

Blue smoke most likely means you are burning oil. The dealer is full of crap. The computer can't detect a mechanical problem like that.
