Hi Phildog
The Accord will never again be released in a hybrid trim.
The Civic Hybrid will remain the flagship 5 passenger hybrid vehicle from now on. Honda will release many other hybrid vehicles but they will all be smaller than the Civic.
As per Honda's vision, Diesel power plants will appear in Honda's larger vehicles with the accord being one of them.MSantos

I love the new Accords, so I am biased... but I had a similar question and forum of an Accord vs. a Fit. I didn't have the leg room I wanted, but the 09's are supposed to be a little bigger. I am reducing my debt load before I buy one, by then the Accord SE will be out and make it a hard decision, Accord is planning Diesel and hybrid models for 2010 release!

The civic hybrid is a definite improvement in the mileage department, but it will NOT get good mileage in city driving unless you learn to drive it well.
Contrary to what many people say about hybrids (especially the press and people who do not own any)and in contrast to the Toyota Prius, the Civic hybrid will ALWAYS do better on the highway than in city driving. Always.
In terms of interior space, you'll find that the HCH can easily accommodate people towering above 6 feet. Get into one and see how it fits you though.
Cheers;

Thanks, this has helped!
On the Honda site they "official" detail the legroom in an Accord as being 3" more than that of the Civic Hybrid. Many of my friends/relatives aren't taller than 5'7" so I don't think I'll need to worry.

No, not really. I have a 08 civic, and you're not squished in the back. I would get the civic hybrid. Don't have to go to the pump that much.

the interior leg/head room of my o8 civic hybrid isin't bad, we don't feel cramped at all, of course wer'e all about 5'6" 175 lbs.
as for mpg = my daily commute is 90% highway -all cruise control 50 to 52 mpg-
