i've always wondered when car buyers make the transition to a hybrid car, do they stop there? You would think that with the purchase of the hybrid car comes along a change in the household as well, ie. energy efficient light bulbs, televisions, etc. Has anyone switched into energy efficient appliances along with the type of car they drive?

I have replaced 21 incandescent bulbs in screw-in sockets with compact fluorescents. Most of my A/V equipment is EnergyStar qualified.

But, Both HVAC systems are about 17 years old (but working well) and the 'fridge may be as old (it came with the house, which we bought 5 years ago).

Just waiting for them to break..

Thanks for the comment VVix, Californians seem to be getting it right. I starting researching different cost realistic ways to become environmentally friendly and i stumbled across this website:

It gave me a lot of info i didn't know before. Hopefully it can be helpful to you guys too.

I know many of us out here in California tightened up on household inefficiencies after dealing with the huge increase in utility charges we endured years back.

I would think the car would be the last step in the process of self evaluation of environmental impact.

It's easier to set your computers to "efficient power mode" change light-bulbs and other simple quick fixes than to step up to new car payments.
