I've been informed that I should replace my timing belt on my 2002 Honda Civic. I have 131520km and wonder if this is normal maintenance for this vehicle. I also have a siezed clutch on the A/C compressor is cheaper to replace the whole unit or have this one repaired

It is a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time.

This compressor is a tough one to swallow but replace it. If you or a good friend with time on his hand and patience ,is cheaper. But at least the dealer will deal with getting it right.

The Honda service manual for 2002 Civic states that the timing belt should be replaced every 176,000 km or 7 years, whichever comes first. However, if the vehicle is regularly driven in very low temperatures (i.e., -20 F), timing belt should be replaced every 100,000 km.
