My 2000 Honda Accord and 2002 Nissan Maxima have foggy headlight lenses. Does anyone know how to clear them up. I was told try using 2000 sandpaper (very fine) on a small area, then polish the area with a good paste wax and then use a buffer to bring out the clarity. I tried this and it did not seem to work. Anyone have a cure other than buying new lenses.

I created a kit made just for cleaning up headlight lenses. I know this sounds like spam but I am really just trying to help. Go to www.crystalenz.com and check out the website or email me at art@crystalenz.com and I can answer any questions you have about how to clean your headlight lens.

I tried that and it didn't work. I'm starting to suspect it's on the inside as well.

I have almost 118,000 miles on the car, I think it's past my warranty period.
I know my exhaust system has a lifetime warranty, but headlight lenses ???

if it's foggy on the outside, wetsand it with 1500 to 2000 sandpaper and buff it with rubbing compound. works perfect for me.

That should be under warranty, go back to your Honda Dealer and have them fix it! You paid a LOT of MONEY for your car, now demand the service you paid for!

Thanks very much for your advice. I have a Pep Boys near by, not sure about Advance Auto though.

Advance Auto recommended this at their store:

Crystal View restorer/defogger

It was about $20, and did a great job. Don't put more than two coats of the final chemical on. More is not better.

I've been able to locate it at my local Auto Parts store, such as Pep Boys or AutoZone.

I've never tried this product - Plastic Polish, but I think it should also do the trick as well. Click here.

I used 600 grit wet sandpaper and it got worse. Then I used metal polish and it got better. There are kits with wet sandpaper from 1000 grit and up that may work. Never tried them.

DEDAV:
I tried using both the red and white rubbing compounds and neither one worked.I'm sure they have more grit to them than toothpaste. But I'll try anything at this point.
