I recently bought a second car which is a 2000 honda civic ex 4dr, and it keeps getting poor gas mileage. I usually get about 450km on 37litres of regular unleaded fuel (60% city, 40% hwy). Could anyone of you with the similar car post your mileage. thanks

It's not hype. My sons civic has gotten a high of 47.6 mpg with about 80% highway driving and I get over 40 regularly on my comute with my 04 lx sedan. If you have a heavy foot, run high rpms when you shift etc. mpg will suffer just like every car on the road.

That's about the best gas milage you can expect from a Honda. You are probably disappointed because of the Honda Hype, just join the Honda Honkers.

My son's car is a 2000 civic si with an hx motor and ex 5 speed transmission in it. He is currently getting anywhere from 39 to 43 mpg with it, depending on how he drives it.

killadi, do you have a check engine light (cel or mil) on at all? Since you recently bought the car, check to make sure the previous owner didn't pull the CEL bulb becuase it was constantly on and didn't like to look at it. This sounds like the oxygen sensor and or catalytic converter are bad. If the computer senses sonthing is wrong (like o2 sensors) it will but the car in "limp" mode and enrich the air/fuel mixture to protect the engine.

My Daughter just drove her 2002 Civic EX 5speed with 98k from Sacramento to Riverside on one tank. If I recall little over 500 miles. She was happy.

I have a 2000 Civic VP 4 door a/t a/c and I average 26 mpg city in the winter if I warm it up 10 minutes twice a day (before going to work and before returning from work), in the summer I get 28 city and 33+ highway.

2002 EX 4-door

Mostly City miles, you can see on the 1/28 fillup and the most recent the 2/21 those were all highway miles.
