Car and Driver mag had pictures of the new CRV due out 9/28/06.

I like the design (although kinda cute and not rugged) but I think Honda is missing some key elements. It listed that Honda doesn't like to mimic other companies, but the Rav4 seems like a better choice. The Rav offers V6, three row seats and upgraded stereo. The new CRV is not offering any of that but has a price of $21-28k.

I just helped a friend choose a Rav-4 over a CRV. The 2007 Rav-4's are great!

V6 is the better one. CRV is always nice to drive and giving very smooth transmission.

I like that the spare tire is hidden.
I was intrigued when this new CR-V just came up, but having looked at it closer on the streets and in traffic it doesn't look that good to me anymore.
I prefer Toyota RAV4, even with the tire on the back.

Hmm, I'm surprised that alot of people don't like the tire on the back of the vehicle. I'm not sure where the tire is located on the CRV, but on most SUV and trucks it is under the vehicle. I would find it alot easier to change a flat tire with a spare on the rear of the car than having to go underneath.

A couple downsides of having the spare on the rear is:
1) makes the door heavier
2) can impare visability
3) the tire does not absorb crash impacts -- which may cause the tire to go in toward the vehicle and pop out the back window.

as I see more and more of new CR-Vs on the road, the less I like it.
It just doesn't look too good to me.
RAV4 looks better and better in comparison - if only Toyota would get rid of the wheel on the back and let that rear door swing up instead of sideway...

I owned a 1999 CR-V I bought brand new. I only took it back to the dealer once for the seatbelts getting tangled. Never a problem with that car at all. My only complaint with it was the rear door. I hated that design, but I thought it looked better overall then the 1999 Rav 4. I put over 105000 miles on the CR-V and it looked great when I traded it in. Skip ahead to 2007, and now I ve bought a new 2007 Toyota Rav 4. I like the styling of the 2007 Rav better then the CR-V. Unfortunatly, Im stuck with the same back door I hated on my CR-V. I hope the Rav is as good a car as my CR-V was. I dont think one can go wrong with either a Honda or Toyota. I keep a very close eye on my MPG, and my Rav 4 V6 gets 2 miles to the gallon less then my 4 Cyl Honda CR-V was getting, and I ve got SO MUCH MORE power.

My wife wants to buy a new 2008 Honda CR-V next year. We have to check www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/bymakemodelNF.shtml first if it's regular before buy a new car from now on. I checked it for 2007 Honda CR-V and it's regular gas. Whew!

Honad CR-V are good car they are really for a smaller family and the Rav4 is for a bigger family that has at less more then two to three kids.

I really dislike the spare tire on the back of the RAV4. That is a big negative for me and was glad to see Honda get rid of it.

2007 CRV, All I can say is it is a fantastic vehicle. Last Honda I had was a '90 Accord with over 200K miles so I also purchased for reliability of the brand. This is my wife's vehicle, EX-L and it has room, I'm 6'4", and hauling capacity. Her other friends opted to purchase a new SUV before Honda came out with the redesigned CRV. I think they made a mistake as they bought Hyundai. Drove them all except the Toyota RAV4 and Honda blew them all away on quality and ride. Wife did not want anything with the spare tire on the back. Those who think the V6 on the Rav4 is a plus over the Honda CRV 4 cylinder are kidding them selves. This vehicle will scoot and does the speed limit the same, but sips less gas. I researched and emailed surrounding dealers and all were going with list price plus dealer add ons. Bought mine in a torrential rain storm and caught the dealer in a weak moment saving $1,000. If the wife is happy, then I'm happy.

At least the spare tire is not on the rear door. The rear door opens upward, not sideways like the previous CR-V's.

It use to be the other way around, but the RAV4 is now a better buy than the CR-V.

We were looking for a small SUV and test drove the 2006 CR-V and Rav4. There was no question the RAV4 was a better option. The CR-V was gutless and everything felt stiff in it. We heard that the new 2007 would be a total redesign. Now that it is out, I am not very impressed. It looks like a Rav4, but the engine only has a little more power (still below the Rav4). The interior is funky with two-tone accents throughout.

Here's a bunch of photos of the new CR-V:

New CR-V

Neither a V6 nor 3rd-row seats would be a factor for me in deciding to purchase a CR-V over a RAV4.
