Granted the Tigers could use a more consistent hitting 3rd baseman and/or a shortstop now that Guillen has been moved to 1st base. But I don't see the Tigers coughing up the kind of dough it would take to get him. Would I love to see him play here? Absolutely. The Tigers have given some Boras clients some fat (and questionable) contracts. I just don't see this one.

Scott Bora$$ has announced that A-Rod has opted out of the remainder of his contract, even after the Yankees offered a 4 or 5 year extension at $30 million per year.
It now appears that the Yanks are out of the running. Now the question is what team, if any, can afford him?

I know ARod is a great player but I can't believe the Yankees offering more than what he is paying. It would be nice if agents stayed out of negotiating and leave it between the players and management.

Yanks set to offer A-Rod at least 30 mil per IF a meeting can be arranged.

I just don't see the Cubs laying out that much money for him. I think he goes to either the Angels or the Giants (alot of $$$ around now that Bonds is gone)....

As a die-hard Yankees fan, I hope A-Rod stays but after the Joe Torre departure I believe that the money will make his final decision and there are many teams who will meet his salary expectations. A-Rod is not only an outstanding ballplayer but he fills seats........

Something tells me that A-Rod will stay with the Yankees. Too much uncertainty with the Cubs' ownership and the Bronx is where the $$$$ is.

With the money A-Rod will command, this is not just a baseball decision (i.e., does he fit in with the team, etc.), but a business decision as well (how much revenue can be gerenated with A-Rod on the team). I really like the guy as a player, but its so much money that the biz stuff dominates. Who knows what will happen.

I agree with both posts. Having a stake in ownership will not be allowed by the MLB executives and having to pay so much for A-Rod where they could use that money elsewhere.

I think the ownership uncertainty will also work against the Cubs getting A-Rod.
