According to AutoGuide.com, "In the fuel economy wars the Hyundai Elantra is now the unrivalled champion." AutoGuide says Hyundai’s new Elantra isn’t just winning praise, it’s topping multi-car comparisons, besting vehicles that have sat untouched at the top of the compact car pedestal for decades." With 29 city and 40 highway mpg., it's not just delivering great mileage, it's also more affordable too, and new buyers who are flocking to it say they love the superior handling and tight steering.

If you've visited a Hyundai dealership, you probably already know how popular these vehicles have become. They're booming. Hyundai's momentum is unwelcome news for Honda and Toyota, and many auto industry analysts say it's one of the...

Have a friend who bought a new 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Extremely happy with the purchase.

Honda has been sitting on its laurels with the Civic and now they have to scramble to catch up.

Isn't competition wonderful?

Honda Civic gets already 40mpg highway and has so for the past 7 or 8 years at least.

To even look at a Hyundai again (drove one many years ago), they will have to bring a car on the market that gets at least 55-60 mpg highway.

Agreed, gknee09.

Competition is definitely good. And, Hyundai really does make some very good cars.

I have a 2001 Hyundai Sonata over 100K miles on it so far. For a 11 year old car it's still running strong.

No mechanical issues or breakdowns. Just regular scheduled maintenance.

Excellent ride and driveability!!

Excellent paint and finish!! Car still looks like new... no rust whatsoever and I live in Minnesota.

Excellent heater!! Car interior warms up quickly. Works just as it did when new!!

Excellent air conditioner (AC)!! I have never had an issue with AC and never had additional refrigerant added. Best AC I have ever had in any car I owned. Works just as it did when new!!

Nice car. Everyone should be worried, not just Toyota and Honda. May the better car win (until the next better one comes out).

This is a repeat story also...

This is what a free market is all about. Competition makes companies compete with each other by trying to outperform their rivals. Of course, Obozo and his ilk don't see it this way. They see it as someone making more money therefore, they must be punished with higher taxes because it's unfair.

The Elantra is one good-looking vehicle. Most of Hyundai's vehicles are beautiful. Look at my Tiburon.

34% of Hyundai Elantras sold are made by Americans and the plant in Alabama is the most productive vehicle assembly factory in North America! When the U.S. car makers were cutting jobs, they were adding jobs...
