no. if you let the ethanol/gas mixture sit in your tank long enough, it turns to sugar in your tank.

"Ehtanol is not good for older cars. Very bad for small engines, you have to add an additive to the gas. This additive costs 10.00. "

LOL! Try telling that to Henry Ford, as the early model Ts rain just fine on ethanol.

Did you ever read the label on these snake oil additives? I have. They claim to do the same thing that ethanol already does.

continuation of last post, got "distracted"...

Speedway, Shell and BP have over 800 stations listed in Indiana
yet there are 151 stations reporting e85?

It's not worth the bother, unless the ethanol industry invests in coops. Obviously they don't believe it's worth it / better since they aren't investing in the stations to offer e85...

E85 is not significant in counts, if e85 included, should also offer electric and LPG since there are more stations offering than e85!

We need a place on Gas Buddy.com to put the price of E-85
We have Mid grade and Prem. that I never see used.
Maby you could change one of them E-85

Essentially the only gasoline available in my area is E-10. I have no problem with it but I do not like being forced to use it. Since the ethanol industry continues to require large tax subsidies on fuel ethanol, they are admitting that ethanol is not yet economically competitive. In many parts of the country it is difficult to find a station that carries E-85 so it appears that most stations do not believe the public is that interested in E-85 yet. Since the government is forcing the oil companies to increase the amount of ethanol they use, you are going to get it whether you like it or not.

Reb4, I cannot get it here in WVA as they are too far away. Duke oil has it at a reasonable price, but he is not open on the weekends, which is the only time I get up to Morgantown. When I travel to PA I can find it at Sheetz at 50 cents less per gallon. That is where I buy it.

If it was readily available here in WVA I would use it exclusively.

goldseeker, so i don't get it, in another posting you complain that there are two stations in all of west virginia and they aren't open and they charge to much... And in this posting, you say how wonderful the product is?

Which is it?

You had better believe that it is better. I get equivalent mileage, my engine runs cleaner with less gunk and varnish buildup. My engine also performs very good. Dyno tests have shown that ethanol produces more horsepower. Also I never need to add dry gas during the winter months anymore, as ethanol will prevent that gas line freeze up.

Free market! Are you kidding? Gasoline has been forced on us for over 100 years. If you want a free market, then lets remove all the tax breaks that oil companies get to produce gasoline.

In the meantime, I will continue to use ethanol blends and be very proud to help reduce our dependance on foriegn oil, even if it is only one gallon at a time.

Absolutely NOT. If ethanol were so wonderful a fuel, why doesn't the gov't.(EPA, DOE and all the other useless agencies controling gasoline) let the FREE market decide whether the people want the ethanol or not. Let there be untainted gasoline available where ethanol is sold and let the market decide. DON'T FORCE IT ON US BECAUSE YOUR CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTORS ARE THE ONES PRODUCING THIS CRAP.

No. Simply put, it uses resources less efficiently. Count the cost of significantly reduced MPG, of course. Couple that with faster wear and tear on engines that use it. Consider the rising cost of corn as it uses up our limited resources in farmland (corn is a replenish-able, not unlimited resource). Also the refineries are full of problems equal to if not greater than their fossil-fuel counterparts. In a nutshell, the government has granted gobs of money to keep the idea going, but corn-processor extraordinaires have failed to make their idea cleaner OR less expensive for the environment and its inhabitants. Scrap the mainline (forced to use it) idea, and bring back choice. Let the market decide.

Not at all. Not as much power produced. less fuel milage, does clean a fuel tank out. Alcohol is a universal solvent, cracks fuel lines over time. Not good for boats.
