I'm not sure why we would need to boycott. In my area Shell is the most expensive stations. I don't shop at the most expensive stations. When people start paying attention, they will purchase only at the least expensive stations. The stations will then lower their prices.

When do u want to do this boycott? I think we have to do something about the gas prices the oil goes down and the prices still go up. I do not know why the government does step up about the eye gouging that is going on.

I pointed out once before that boycotting Shell last time it was called for here would have cost many motorists a lot of money because Shell, at that time, was the LAST to raise the price. Nobody is first all the time, nobody is last, nobody is always the most expensive, nobody is always the least expensive. It is just like groceries, you shop around, that is the reason for this site. I have also pointed out that a succesful shift of buying patterns to other chains would put demand higher than supply, resulting in an increase in price to hold demand down. Plus, when the supply was down, they would end up refilling tanks from the outfit with the surplus, be that Shell, or whoever. Now, if the chain that lost customers lowered the price to attract them back, the demand would skyrocket. How do you control demand that threatens to wipe out supply? Righto, you raise the price. Net result, higher prices all around. Congratulations! You have just read the complete text of "Gasoline Economics 101"!
Now, be a good little doobie and look up "boycott" in the dictionary. You will discover there is nothing in the definition of boycott that suggests merely shuffling dollars around the block. A boycott is doing without, in whole or in part, of something. In other words, if you aren't advocating actually using less fuel, you are, as the proverbial saying goes, "spitting into the wind".

Captsquid, do you work for an oil Co. You seem to be quite defensive when it comes to gas prices.
Ok! so we have a boycott of shell in progress. Do we all give up because they drop the price for their Credit card holders by a cent a gallon? OF COURSE NOT!!They make up the difference in interest and service charges. WE MUST KEEP IT UP! Shell this month and someone else next month. Go USA TRUCKERS!!!!! We are on side.

OK I have stopped going to Shell. Not for that reason but their BBQ propane refill is 35% more expensive and their carwash has too long of a wait time. Also they won't let me use the gascap to hold nozzel open while i wash windows. My gas expenses are $70 a day 5 days a week and $10 for the entire weekend on average untill I get the boat in the water then I expect another 100 a weekend easy.

The global economy is what is keeping everything in check, without the competition prices would be alot higher. The truckers are doing it for themselves not all of us.

Myzelda, would it be too much to ask you to use punctuation somewhere in your run-on sentences?

Boycotting one or two retailers will only hurt the local retailers. The manufacturer will not be hurt as they will simply divert their surplus to other retailers.
If we want to fight high gas prices then reduce consumption. Choose paper over plastic. Telecommute, car pool, call in sick, or take one day off every week to stay at home. Slow down to 60 MPH in 65 speed limit areas - that's a protest!
If we all just parked our cars one business day a week, national consumption would decrease by 15% or 30 billion gallons of gas. Six years ago we were paying $1.25 per gallon.
We also sponsor OPEC greed when we speed!
