I have the habit of not changing times when the clock falls back, which needs manual change like microwave, my car etc.

I have to change about 25 things every season. Clocks, watches, vehicles and a whole bunch of electronics and key pad timers.

Time is such an arbitrary thing anyway. You could move to Arizona - they don't "spring forward and fall back".

I totally agree with you 100 percent. What is the use in going back to standard time for a small 4 month period. Leave the time the way it is now. We aren't saving anything but going to work in the darkness all of the time.

Either have it one way or the other, then leave it alone.

@jcpatriots and Gas_Buddy: Really? Are you that bothered by this? I will move this topic over to the Off Topic forum because I don't want to upset the apple cart and certainly don't want to ruin the sacred General Gas Talk forum. :(
But, to answer your questions, and if you study the history of DST, yes we could tie this in to gas/oil prices. How? Call it what you will, but the history of DST started because of energy usage. It goes back during WWI.
In fact, on January 4, 1974, President Nixon signed into law the Emergency Daylight Saving Time Energy Conservation Act of 1973. Then, beginning on January 6, 1974, implementing the Daylight Saving Time Energy Act, clocks were set ahead. On October 5, 1974, Congress amended the Act, and Standard Time returned on October 27, 1974. Daylight Saving Time resumed on February 23, 1975 and ended on October 26, 1975.
Regardless, I moved it so there should be no more whining. Hey Bussy: Rookie?

@GBMAX: You live in Phoenix, so you don't even have to worry about it, anyway.

I assume you're joking about the "tying gas prices in with Daylight Savings Time". Regardless, this is in the wrong section.

You're asking "Could we tie this in to gas prices?" and then say "That's open for debate.
I'm not sure how this is a General Gas Talk issue, which is general talk about fuel, oil, gas stations, etc., but maybe you can start by telling us how it can be tied in to gas prices, or what about gas prices and Daylight Savings Time is debatable.
Maybe this issue you're trying to make is that you don't like switching the clock, but if it is you haven't said why you don't like the twice-yearly time changes. (I have my reasons for not liking it, and for thinking that there should be one time zone east of the Mississippi and one west of the Mississippi, but that's another issue).
Can you explain how you're relating time changes and gas prices?

I prefer to end the time changes altogether. Any energy loss or savings will even out in the course of a year.

I thought that daylight savings time started during World War II so they could save electricity. Now it is to get an extra hour of daylight in the evening. It is hard living on the time change line. In the summer, it is daylight till 10pm.

My thoughts are no. We don't have it here and I'm glad.
