Updated my Motorola Droid X to Gas Buddy App V2.10 yesterday.

After the update I tried to post prices and received the error message:

"There was an internal problem. Please Restart the App."

I restarted the app and the problem still occurred.
I restarted the phone and the app and the problem still occurred.
I cleared the phone's cache, restarted the phone and the app and the problem still occurred.

I would rather not have to unistall and reinstall the app if I do not have to.

Motorola recently put out a new update of the Gingerbread Operating System which I have not installed yet due to it having issues. I am still running a totally stock version of the prior OS version 4.5.605.MB810.

BTW, does the latest version of GB (V2.10) get rid of the very annoying warning message about the price one is trying to post possibly being too high? That warning message is very annoying when one is trying to post prices over $4/gallon which is becoming more common in my area.

FYI, I did post a review of the App pointing out this problem to the developer if they actually read those reviews.

I upgraded to v2.11 yesterday. No noticeable change so far.

I would consider myself a power user. I e-mail and use my app all day. The only glitch I have experienced is from time to time my phone just decides to restart!

PA_VDub_Nut,

Thanks for taking the time to fill me in. I appreciate it. I guess my tendency used to be to wait and "look before leaping" when it comes to upgrades, but I've become complacent since not having issues with this particular phone. I'm really not a power user per se, so this probably explains why I haven't experienced problems.

If I do experience anything out of the ordinary, I'll look you up and let you know.

Thanks again,

RG

RichWLIN - There have been reports from some Droid X owners that the .621 update caused new problems with bluetooth and wifi connections dropping. Some have also said that some existing problems with .605 were not fixed. (ie the DX powering back on after being powered off among other things.)

I participated in the Motorola "Soak Tests" for two of the prior O/S updates. Both those tests were very frustrating for a number of the testers. During these tests, Motorola was given a large amount of Very Detailed information regarding problems that the testers found. A number of testers requested that Motorola not release the O/S until these problems were addressed. In both cases Motorola released the O/S anyway. Sadly, a number of the issues that were discovered with .605 also plagued the DX2 model phone as well. I was fortunate in that I only experienced 4 or 5 of the 10-20 documented problems that can/did happen with .605. IMHO, it seems that people that experience more problems may be more of a "power user" than those not experiencing as many problems. By "power user" I mean DX owners who use a LOT of Apps, have lots of email accounts their DX is syncing to, heavy browsing and social media participation, use lots of different ring tones and notifications, stream music and have 1000s of songs on their DX along with lots of videos, etc)

As far as .621 goes I am taking a wait and see approach to this update. The last two updates I was on the "bleeding edge" of this technology. This time I decided to let other people do the bleeding for me.

PA_VDub_nut,

Glad you got the GB app working.

You said: "Motorola recently put out a new update of the Gingerbread Operating System which I have not installed yet due to it having issues."

I'm using my Droid X on Verizon with version 2.3.4 and system 4.5.621.MB810 the latter just updated the other day and so far, so good. I'm just wondering what you meant? Knock on wood, but I haven't had any issues at all with this phone or any of the OS upgrades so far. I hadn't heard about any difficulties. Could you elaborate?

scoutmaster - Cannot explain how your Droid X works and mine does not.

Scrapheap - Thanks, I downloaded the V2.11 update. What do you know, the Gas Buddy App works on my phone again.

Want to say Thanks to the GB Folks and the Developer who fixed the problem with V2.10.

Since they are now on V2.11, you might just want to reload.

Interesting. I have Droid X and GB 2.10. I'm running OS version 4.5.605.MB810, same as you and Android version 2.3.3. I have had no trouble so far.
