With so many actual news stories about cars, oil, gas, etc. out there; why does Gasbuddy allow the posting of opinion editorials and blogs? So many people actually believe these things to be news. It's bad enough that actual news can get things wrong but op eds and blogs generally have a higher incidence of misinformation.

Misinformation is a bad thing and hurts the credibility of the outlet that propagates it. Gasbuddy should strive to have credible news postings as much as they should for having credible gas price postings.

I was just referring to the comment you made about less moderation of what is submitted due to mobile apps. As far as I know the only thing you can submit from the apps are gas prices.

Yes, there are priorities for the mods- the apps being one of the higher ones. It's comments, such as the ones found in this category, that should help direct the mods' focus to other things that are important to their users. Keep up the good work, lwren.

plastic, I not know if there is a way to post news via the moble app, as I use a PC for most of my posts. My point was that SUVFan showed you some good links and that the moble apps seem to be all they are working on. Given time, I bet you will be able to post news from them, as the main site page seems to get no TLC (Tender Loving Care) any more. If that happens, just think of the junk that will be posted.

And yes, GM is being missed.

Lwren, I'm unaware of any mobile app that allows news articles to be submitted. Could you share a link?

Anyway, SUVFan just informed me that the posting of editorials and other opinion pieces is not allowed. If that is indeed the case then this shouldn't be a topic and I should have just left it at reporting the out-of-place posting in the News section. I never would have guess that op eds weren't allowed since they regularly pop up in the News article section.

This site is poorly moderated. It was well moderated when GM was here. That guy worked his butt off!

Plastic,

Since this site is about gas prices and what relates to it, the news that is posted should be along the same guide lines. While there is a lot of reading in the threads that SUVFan lead you to that is off topic, one must remember the the main purpose of this web site.

There seems to be be less and less moderation of what is submitted, due to the mobile apps. That is were all of their focus is now. I suggest you e-mail the mods and see if you can get something changed. Also, good luck with that!

Thanks for that. This thread is mainly focused on the posting, of non-news pieces, as news. Those threads seem to be, as you indicated, about a wide range of issues.

That and many other questions related to "Newsville" have been discussed in PD's General Newsville Discussion thread, which replaced the tired, old Woud you rather only JT, GM,pick the top 5 news articles? thread that had hosted the subject previously.

I'll repost the question posed in the lead post in the Newsville thread.
